Hackszine.com: Detecting forged photos algorithmically

Being able to index, analyse and see the commonality of data other than ASCII/Unicode subsets has come a little closer, courtesy of John Graham-Cumming. This hack is representative of strides forward in the acceptance and use of digital media; that the accepted means of disseminating ‘original’ photographs is (arguably) in a digital form, that we have ready access to sufficient storage, bandwidth and computational power to not just manipulate but also analyse not just the metadata but the fundamental ‘analogue over digital’ content of the data. The written word*, whilst still the primal and most flexible medium of the net, see it’s analogues from other media take a step closer to it. (via Hackszine)
